It currently takes seven and a half years of
college education to become a Doctor of Chiropractic, although a majority of chiropractors have attended eight
years or more. In addition to educational requirements,
doctors of chiropractic must also pass both national and
state licensing examinations.
Chiropractic literally means to practice by hand.
Chiropractic care in the United States dates back over 100
years. The treatment provided by a chiropractor is known as
spinal adjustment or spinal manipulative therapy. ( It is
the second largest healing profession in the world and the
largest natural healing profession. )
Chiropractic patients reflect society in general with
patients coming from all walks of life and backgrounds. They
tend to seek care for the same reasons most people see any
doctor. ( Pain that in some way is interfering with the
pleasurable enjoyment of life. Most patients already know
that medical care of muscle-skeletal pain involves
prescriptive drugs. Many already have tried that treatment
and found it lacking. They seek a more natural and permanent
solution to their problem.
